Mussel Farm

The Noramidye mussel farm is located in the Western coast of Koyun Island, a remote area in the Southern Marmara archipelago with no industrial facilities, agricultural runoff, or municipal discharge nearby.

The local water quality, strong currents, and nutrient-dense currents provide optimal conditions for growing mussels. We implement the modern "Double-Line Culture" system. Suspended ropes hang vertically in the water column, ensuring the mussels never touch the sandy seabed and grow in a clean, natural flow.

Our farm features over 80 culture lines, 400+ kilometers of culture ropes, and more than 3,500 buoys supporting the crop. The entire system is anchored to the seabed using special eco-friendly helical screw anchors designed to withstand extreme storms and currents without disrupting the benthic environment.

Our mussels grow naturally without any artificial feeding or chemical treatments. They feed exclusively by filtering local phytoplankton from the water. In doing so, a single mussel filters up to 5 liters of seawater per hour, actively cleaning the marine environment and supporting biodiversity.
